Following the recent order of Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan C. Agda to place Borongan City under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) for 14 days, joint forces of the Borongan City Police, City Traffic, CDRRMO led by Public Health and Safety Task Force Chairman Atty. Romeo Alexis Devora, went around the city’s streets to ensure the public’s strict compliance with the minimum health protocols.
While roving, a number of individuals caught with no face masks were immediately issued citation tickets in violation of Executive Order No. JIDCA-001-0121 and Ordinance No. 169 or the “Borongan City New Normal Health Protocols Ordinance of 2020”. Under the ordinance, first offense violators will be fined P3,000, P4,000 for second offense and P5,000 for third offense with imprisonment.
Before the violators were allowed to return to their homes or workplace, Atty. Devora discussed what Mayor Dayan Agda has repeatedly shared with the public since the beginning of the pandemic: The importance of strictly adhering to the minimum health protocols to protect lives and save our communities.
At the end of the discussion, Atty. Devora stressed that Boronganons should be even more careful now especially with the ongoing community transmission of COVID-19 in the city and the recent deaths of 3 Boronganons caused by the virus.
