While witnessing the culmination of this yearโ€™s Padul-ong Festival, we found a remarkable man named Felix Sabalbarino Jr. At 73 years of age, Felix serves as the Vice President of the Senior Citizen Organization of Brgy. Sta. Fe, Borongan City, but his role extends far beyond the confines of his title.

He embodies unwavering support and gratitude, a testament to the festival’s enduring spirit.

“Permi kami hin nakanhi para magkita hit Padul-ong,” Felix says with a warm smile, his eyes reflecting the anticipation of the day’s events.

For Felix and his devoted wife, the Padul-ong Festival is more than just a local tradition; it’s a cherished opportunity to witness their community’s vibrant culture and celebrate their young relatives’ dedication.

“Sobra it ak pagpapasalamat kan Mama Mary nga tinatagan it tagsa hin iya grasya, para mahimo in nga Padul-ong Festival,” he states with genuine reverence.

According to him, this festival is a gift, a divine grace that enriches the lives of everyone involved.

Felix’s presence at the festival is not solely rooted in familial pride but also a profound appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the contestants.

“Kinanhi ak para suportahan it tanan nga nacompete dire la it ak mga umangkon. Kinikita ko nga tanan magagaling hira,” he affirms. His eyes sparkle with admiration as he watches each participant give their all, knowing that behind their performances lie countless hours of practice and preparation.
