The Climate Resilient Cities held a 2-day activity on “Validation, Prioritization of Nature-based Solution Project, and Assessment of Environmental Law Enforcement Capacity” participated by LGU-Borongan, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-Provincial Fisheries Office (BFAR-PFO), Center for Empowerment and Development in Eastern Visayas (CoPE Inc), DENR-City Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO), DENR-Samar Island Natural Park (DENR-SINP), and Eastern Samar Provincial Police Office (ESPPO) on October 26-27, 2022 at Domsowir Function Hall, Borongan City.
The training aims to identify stakeholders’ examples of nature-based solutions that can be implemented within the city of Borongan and the Samar Island National Park. These solutions are expected to help build the resilience of the nature and people of Borongan City. The project is expected to last for five years.
In addition to validation of identified NBS projects, the CRC Project will assist in assessing and improving the capabilities of LGUs, NGAs, and CSOs in natural resource protection efforts. A thorough understanding of the enforcement situation, as well as participatory and individual capacities, gaps and challenges, and the direction of these concerned law enforcement agencies.
