BORONGAN CITY OFFICIALS EXPLORE COLLABORATIVE OPPORTUNITIES WITH KOREAN CONSULATE TO ENHANCE DEVELOPMENT

In a bid to bolster agriculture, employment, and tourism prospects, Borongan City officials, led by Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda, embarked on a significant diplomatic mission to the Korean Consulate. The meeting, held earlier today, marks a pivotal step towards enhancing cooperation between Borongan City and the Republic of Korea.

Mayor Agda, accompanied by a delegation comprising Vice Mayor Emman Tiu Sonco, Councilor Vic Franco, City Information Head Rupert Ambil II, City Population Head Mark Cortado, City Planning Office Head Anne Lopez, and Reginald Lorico from the City Mayor’s office, engaged in fruitful discussions with the Consul General of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Song Sewon.

During the meeting, Mayor Agda underscored Borongan City’s keen interest in leveraging Korean expertise in agriculture. He expressed an earnest desire to learn from Korea’s advanced agricultural technologies, recognizing the potential benefits they could bring to Borongan’s farming practices. Moreover, Mayor Agda expressed hopes for Boronganons to seize opportunities as seasonal farm workers in Korea, potentially enhancing employment prospects for the city’s populace.

Furthermore, Mayor Agda extended a warm invitation to the Consul General to explore the natural wonders of Borongan and participate in the upcoming Padul-ong Fiesta scheduled for this September. Emphasizing the rich cultural heritage and the beauty of Borongan’s seas and forests, the Mayor highlighted the city’s appeal as a nature and adventure tourist destination.

In response, the Consul General expressed enthusiasm towards Mayor Agda’s proposals, affirming the consulate’s commitment to fostering collaborative initiatives. He pledged to facilitate linkages aimed at advancing opportunities not only in agriculture and employment but also in the tourism sector.

At the conclusion of discussions, Mayor Agda expressed optimism for the future, foreseeing a mutually beneficial relationship that will enhance the welfare of Borongan’s citizens and strengthen ties between the two nations.
