BORONGAN CITY HOSTS FIRST LEG OF NATIONAL SURFING COMPETITION

The City of Borongan officially opened the first leg of the 2022 Philippine Surfing Championship Tour (PSCT) at the Surf City in Baybay Boulevard earlier this morning, December 6.

Surf City Chair Rupert Ambil in his welcoming remarks, expressed his gratitude to the Borongan City Government and local officials, including the collective effort of Borongan citizens in making the event possible.

During the presentation of the surfing teams, Vice Mayor Emman Tiu Sonco noted that the competition has 203 surfing athletes from 6 regions — Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Bicol, Davao Region, Caraga Region, and Eastern Visayas.

Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda led the ceremonial breaking of the board and the official opening of the Surf in the City 2021 with Surfriders Club of Eastern Samar (SCES) President Myrel Santos and PCST representative Bjorn Pabon. The Sangguniang Panlungsod members of Borongan City, Atty. Philip Evardone, Jr. (representative of Gov. Ben P. Evardone), some City Government Department Heads, the wife of Mayor Agda, Dr. Rowena Agda, and his eldest daugther Tanya Agda also attended the event.

Aside from surfing, the Surf City Festival will also hold three more sports activities: skimboarding, skateboarding, and soccer. The awarding ceremonies will be held on Sunday night, December 12.
