The Borongan City Health Office held the “Bisyo Skeri Maze” event earlier today as part of their campaign against juvenile engagement in vices such as smoking, alcoholism, gambling, drug addiction, and pre-marital sex. As per the CHO, the bisyo skeri maze is the first of its kind to be mounted by the Department of Health in the region.
Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda was in attendance, highlighting the importance of holding such an event to the eradication of teenage pregnancy and addiction, whether in alcoholic drinks, illegal drugs, or gambling. The mayor also conveyed his appreciation towards the CHO for coming up with a creative way to bring the activity to fruition, expressing his desire to hold a bigger affair of similar purpose within the first quarter of 2025.
The DOH-sponsored event featured booths showcasing the grim consequences of succumbing to the aforementioned vices. Aside from the booths, a poster-making and interpretative dance contest, as well as a ‘skeri’ maze game was also held in line with the theme.
