BORONGAN CITY DIVISION ATHLETES CONCLUDE MONTH-LONG TRAINING, GEAR UP FOR EVRAA MEET IN ORMOC CITY

In a spirited show of support and encouragement, a Send-Off Activity was organized to conclude the concentration training of Borongan City Division’s athletes, held at Eastern Samar National Comprehensive High School Gymnasium, April 29.

This activity served as a rallying point, bringing together the community to recognize the efforts and hard work of the athletes, coaches, technical working groups and officials for the upcoming 2024 Eastern Visayas Regional Athletics Association (EVRAA) meet in Ormoc City on May 5-10.

Breaking from recent practice, the executive and legislative branches of the Local Government Unit (LGU) united for the first send-off event.

In line with this, City Administrator Atty. Celestino Cabato, representing Mayor Dayan Agda, in his speech, highlighted that the City unveiled a strategic plan to heighten the support for athletes and coaches following the 2023 EVRAA.

“We come up with solutions to enhance and improve our participation for EVRAA 2024. Our city government officials, come up with idea that we must have a longer training for our athletes…our preparation for EVRAA 2024 in Ormoc City is better today,” Atty. Cabato highlighted.

Meanwhile, Sangguniang Panlungsod members Hon. Zen Daza, Hon. Katrina Sadac, Hon. Frich Uy, Hon. Victor Franco represented by Arnold Jasmin, Hon. Jay Anthony Ang, and Hon. Glaiza Tiu, gave their advice and well wishes, making sure that the allocation for EVRAA was supported by the legislative.

With eyes set on how City athletes will impact this year’s EVRAA, City Information Officer and Sports Coordinator, Rupert Ambil, encouraged the athletes to show the heart of Boronganons in playing as they will represent not only themselves but also Borongan.
