LGU-BORONGAN HOLDS YEAR-END AWARDING CEREMONY FOR EMPLOYEES AND OFFICIALS

In recognition of its employees’ and officials’ invaluable service to the city and its endeavors, the City Government of Borongan held its year-end awarding ceremony at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall today, December 15.

The awards were divided into three categories: the loyalty award which is given to employees with a service record of at least ten years; the service award which is handed to officials and employees who retired from government service in the current year and served for at least fifteen years or at least three consecutive terms in the case of elected officials; and the special award which reiterates the accolades and recognitions that city departments have received from other government agencies.

In his congratulatory address, Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda said that the awarding is a testament to the employees’ unwavering commitment to good governance. He also thanked the retired employees of the city who are also recipients of the awards for their dedication to public service despite the many challenges that engulfed the city during their tenure as civil servants.

“Labi na han aton mga retirees, thank you for all your dedication, han iyo kinasing-kasing nga serbisyo apisar han mga challenges nga aton inatubang dida han mga panahon nga nakanhi kamo ha public service. Thank you so much. Thank you han iyo contribution to our beloved city.”

Mayor Agda further stated that it is the moral duty of Boronganons to serve as role models to the other LGUs in the province so that they may, in turn, emulate the brand of service that the city renders to its constituents.

Vice Mayor Emman Tiu Sonco shared the same sentiment, saying that the awarding should motivate other employees to benchmark on the quality of service that the awardees exemplify in their respective areas of responsibility.

A surprise certificate of appreciation was also conferred to Mayor Agda for his exemplary performance as local chief executive of Borongan City.

The city government’s awarding ceremony is done twice yearly. The first is held in June which coincides with Borongan’s Charter Day celebration, and the second is in December which officially wraps up the city’s distribution of service excellence awards for the whole year.
