HAPPY OCEAN’S MONTH

Ocean-Month2---2023The Provincial Government of Eastern Samar headed by Governor Ben Evardone, spearheaded a Province-Wide Simultaneous Coastal Clean-up in all municipalities of Eastern Samar, today, May 9, as the whole nation celebrates the Month of the Ocean, through Presidential Proclamation No. 57 issued in 1999.

With this year’s theme “Sustainably feed the global population”, the provincial government launched its very own program called Project Kalikasan Linisan Estehanon Aksyon Na (KLEAN), which intends to raise awareness about the repercussions of wastes that are thrown in the oceans and the harms it cause to marine life. This project also aims to promote sustainable practices in waste management and protect our aquatic resources.

Kinahanglan nga gin-iintindi naton it resources hit aton kadagatan. Very soon, mare-recognize nga it coral reefs hit Eastern Samar in gi-uupayi nala hit ngatanan dara kay mga buhi pa it aton coral reefs”, said Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda in his welcome message.

Gov. Ben P. Evardone, in his speech, expressed his gratitude to everyone who has shown overwhelming support for the Project KLEAN.

“Month-long ini nga aton ginbubuhat yana. This is for us and our future generations para makatagamtam hira hin malimpyo nga kadagatan. If we fail to protect our resources, ano nala it pangangaunon hit aton mga ka-apo apohan? Sanglit, gidadamo-e nga salamat han iyo hul-os nga suporta para hini nga programa”, Gov. EvardoneOcean-Month3---2023 uttered.

One of the event’s highlights was the arrival of the newly-crowned Miss Philippines – Earth 2023 Yllana Marie Aduana, Mister Universe Tourism 2023 Erik Lennart Visser, Miss Scuba International 2015 Cindy Madumma, and Miss Scuba Philippines 2023 Sheikha Manglicmot, who also took part of the province-wide coastal clean-up in Eastern Samar.

The activity held along the shorelines of Baybay Boulevard, was graced by the presence of Eastern Samar’s Board Members, Provincial Government and LGU Borongan’s Heads of Offices and employees, Office of the Congressman, CENRO, PENRO, DENR R8, PNP Borongan, ESPPO, AFP, BFP, Coast Guard Borongan, Barangay Officials and other agencies and associations in Eastern Samar.
