BORONGAN’s FUTURE INFIRMARY TO RECEIVE NON-CITY RESIDENTS AS WELL

It is a sin for us hospital personnel to deny any single patient who seeks medical help and attention, rich or poor. It is both a moral obligation and a solemn vow that any health facility in the world must at all times practice with compassion.

So said Dr. Raul Villanueva, Borongan City Infirmary Medical Director in an interview; and asked if patients from other LGUs would be admitted for treatment, both Dr. Villanueva and Dr. Venus Corado replied a “yes” answer, Wednesday, March 22, 2023, DYES.

Non-Boronganons are the 3rd classified would-be patients next to patients opting to stay in private rooms, with Borongan residents of course as top priority, Villanueva added.

Corado meanwhile informed that PhilHealth, Malasakit assistance and the Assistance to Individual in Crisis Situations (AICS) of their respective LGUs can be tapped for help.

The 30-bed City Infirmary hopes to serve Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, OB and Animal Bites.

Both Villanueva and Corado are now in their feet attending to the multi-faceted preparations: physical, supplies and equipment needed, for the opening and operation of the City Infirmary, it being one of the campaign promises of City Mayor Dayan Agda, to provide Boronganons with a standard and quality health care service.

Furthermore, soon upcoming and just a few meters away from the City Infirmary is a “Waiting Home”. This is a special project spearheaded by Sangguniang Panlungsod Member and Committee on Health Chair, Dr.Katrina Anacta-Sadac, Villanueva informed.

The special Home is designed for expectant mothers coming from far and upstream barangays who are encouraged to come forward to the City’s health facility ahead of their due dates, and stay in the “Waiting Home”. This, to prevent anywhere in the City, cases of Maternal Mortality (MM) even neonatal and Infant Mortality (IM).

Finally, in order for resident doctors to be upgraded with the recent trends in medical practice, the Rizal Medical Center in Manila and San Lazaro Hospital have opened their doors to assist and train them further so they could deliver more effectively, it was learned. | via Alicia Nicart
