JIDCA URGES KAPITANES: BE AGRI-PRENEURS

City Mayor Dayan Agda today told some Punong Barangays to encourage, help their respective farmers to produce crops more than their families’ consumption so they could engage in Agri-business.

“Masool gad ngani akseptaron pero ungod man, it at pinangangaon ha Borongan kadak-an imported, in other words it at kwarta ha Borongan nagkikinagawas la, imbis nga dinhi la kunta ha at maglilinimbuyog,” Mayor Agda noted. (It is rather painful to accept but it is true, most of the foods we eat in Borongan are imported, meaning, our money are brought out of Borongan instead of it, going just around us.)

“Unta tagan ta gad hin focus it agriculture kay ubos pa man kita nangangaon,” was his appeal. (I wish we would give more focus on agriculture production since all of us are still eating.)

“We can hardly produce second generation farmers, our farmers’ children have barely followed their fathers’ footsteps,” he stressed.

Mayor Agda further revealed to the barangay chairmen that of the three main components, crop production of Dukwag Agrikultura was/is a flop, as compared to Livestock and Poultry production.

“Crop production and fishery are needing loan applicants, however, we are now exporter of pigs and poultry eggs,” he added.

“In April, PAL has said it might begin receiving cargoes for shipment to Manila and Cebu,” he informed, “and with this quick transport service, we can bring our local products easily to the big cities,” Mayor Agda concluded.
