BORONGAN CITY LGU TO LEVEL- UP WATER SERVICE DELIVERY

“Water is life,” so goes the old maxim, which, has also been the guiding principle of Borongan City LGU in its vision to deliver quality water service to its constituents.

Recently, it has initiated another project that is geared to answer issues hounding water supply, its access, safetiness and potability.

The Public Services International and Alliance of Government Workers in the Water Sector (AGGWAS) team are conducting a forum on Integrated Water Resources Management and Trends in Water Privatization today, November 5, 2021, at Domsowir Hotel and Restaurant.

During the opening program, City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda, expressed his appreciation of the partnership, the LGU has recently engaged in, with AGGWAS.

“We need to level up the quality water service for our people. This is an opportunity for us to realize this good partnership in battling and solving the water problem in Borongan,” Mayor Agda said.

As program proponent himself, Mayor Agda articulated his expectation that AGWWAS with the other participants would come up with or formulate policies that could encourage the Borongan Water District (BWD) family to learn new ideas or innovations for an efficient water service delivery.

From the side of the team, according to Ian Mariano, Public Service International Secretary, they are prepared to provide technical assistance for an improved water service.

“Kami po ay handang magbigay ng technical assistance kagaya ng capacity building at mga best practices on Integrated Water Management, para maipalaganap ang quality public service at mapabuti and serbisyong pantubig sa Borongan,” Mariano said.

Early yesterday, the team visited a one hour-trek (vice versa) to the city’s water source at sitio Kapinian, barangay Amantacop to conduct an ocular inspection of the water source.

The team later found out that indeed, the area has a good water source due to the density of its forest reserve.

Participants during the forum were selected Barangay Captains, Borongan Women’s Organization, LGU-Arteche, ESSU-Salcedo, BWD-Professional Sector and LGU-Borongan Department Heads.
