The City Government Unit of Borongan appeals to DOH-8 for more vaccine allocations.
Very early to finish, after lunch today, was the drive-thru vaccination activity in Baybay Boulevard due to inadequate vaccines.
Some 25 more, senior citizens who were willing to get vaccinated, went home with heavy hearts.
Before his very eyes, City Mayor Dayan Agda watched the elderlies with pain, as they turned their backs from the vaccination area, with unmet health protection measure that was earlier popularized in a series of information campaigns.
“I feel sad, that after the city government worked hard to raise the public’s awareness and confidence on the vaccine, we could barely respond to their current need or demand for it,” Mayor Agda said.
“I therefore appeal to DOH-8 to grant us, by all means, more vaccines, of whatever brand, because our people in this city are not at all “choosy”, he said.
All the 150 vaccines allocated today by DOH-8 thru ESPH, were all consumed swiftly, without any wastage, it was learned.
“We reiterate our urgent appeal to DOH-8 , to listen to this need; our people are ready, they are willing to be inoculated, but we cannot completely answer to their need at present, because we are at the mercy of DOH supply,” Mayor Agda stressed.
