DAY ONE OF COVID-19 VACCINATIONS FOR BDH & CHO/RHU HEALTHCARE WORKERS

Following the arrival of the 2nd batch of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines in Eastern Samar, vaccinations began today at the Borongan Doctors Hospital (BDH) for 87 healthcare workers (HCWs) of the same institution and the CHO/RHU of LGU Borongan.

In a program opened by vaccination site supervisor Dr. Katrina Carmel Rapada of the City Health Office, she emphasized, in an effort to quell any healthcare worker having second thoughts about getting inoculated, that the best vaccine to take is any vaccine that is presently available as it went through stringent review before being approved for use.

Meanwhile, BDH Medical Director Dr. Belen Umil expressed gratitude for receiving the much awaited vaccines this early in Eastern Samar.

“I thank the government for having this provided for free, the DOH, PHO Eastern Samar and the City Government of Borongan through Mayor Dayan Agda for the assistance in getting us vaccinated today,” said Dr. Umil.

Dr. Umil also shared how terribly hurt she was when she lost one of her employees to COVID-19 and how it motivated her to personally approach her employees and convince them to show up today and take the vaccines provided by the national government through COVAX.

Among those vaccinated today from the CHO/RHU are City Health Officer Dr. Daisy Sacmar, Rural Health Physicians Dr. Raul Villanueva, Dr. Bernadette Galacan and HCWs from RHU-1.

Vaccinations will take place in BDH until tomorrow, 17 March 2021.
