CITY HCWs MAY TAKE PNP PATROL CAR AFTER LATE AFTERNOON DUTIES

Doctors, nurses other health workers may take the Police Patrol Car, on their way home, within the City proper, after rendering late afternoon duties.

So said City PNP Chief of Police, Pol. Lt. Col. Doughlas Antonio Eloja in a radio interview over “Kapihan Ha Este” radio program.

This, because there would be some instances, on early evenings, when tricycles seldom ply urban routes, due to heavy rains and a health worker or two would stand by the roadside, in wait for a tricycle homeward.

Night passengers are also rare to none, as people abide by the City Ordinance, in observance of Curfew Hours as a COVID-19 control measure, thus tricycles are seldom seen in the streets.

But comes the PNP Patrol Car which could provide mobility assistance to health care workers, needing a ride home.

“Kung mata-taymingan po nila ang Patrol Car na nasa kalsada, pwede naman nila i-para, pwede sila makisakay, basta sa city proper lang,” Col. Eloja said on air via phone patch, over RVFM.

The said ride was an earlier suggestion of City Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan Agda as another initiative in providing assistance to health care workers (HCWs) and frontliners during this time of pandemic.

Col. Eloja informed further, that Patrol Cars roam around the City streets, especially during evenings as one office mandate in ensuring the safety of the Borongan populace, as envisioned by City Mayor Agda.

The Officer also appealed for public’s understanding that a “mug shot” photograph being taken on face mask violators, is a PNP standard operating procedure, for records purposes only and not for publication.

Eloja’s statement was in reply to a few inquiries on social media, regarding the “mug shot” photos which were earlier rendered to nine protocol violators, who allegedly cried foul on the PNP’s documentation SOP.

“Ipinapatupad lang po namin ang batas, at ang kautusan na pag so-ot ng face mask at face shield ay para din naman sa kabutihan ng nakararami,” Col. Eloja explained.

He also clarified that “it’s face mask and face shield, and not either of the two”. “It is what the law provides,” he said.

It is observed that some people roaming around are observed to be wearing either of the two, instead of both.

“Hindi po ganoon, dapat dalawa,” added Eloja.

On another note, motorcycle riders around the city proper’s routes are advised to run their motorbikes at 10-20 kph, but they must also practice the required health protocols as in wearing of face masks.

He also reminded that only two riders must take the motorcycle, the driver and the back rider.

For the common city transport, Eloja repeated that only three passengers can take the tricycle, one in front, another at the back seat and third, the backrider, the driver being the fourth with a barrier separating the latter two.

“This is to provide space for physical distancing measure,” COP Eloja concluded. #
