Ten former members of the New People’s Army (NPA) recently received financial assistance from the City Government of Borongan thru Mayor Jose Ivan Dayan C. Agda, Vice Mayor Emman Tiu Sonco, Sangguniang Panlungsod Members, and LTC Oliver Alvior, Commanding Officer of the 78th ID, Lalawigan this City.
In his message, during a simple recognition ceremony, Mayor Agda said, that they are happy for the decision made by the former rebels (FRs) because the City Government under his realm is observant to and sensitive with good governance, and FRs as well, can be assured of an improved living condition.
Mayor Agda said, that this time around, whether one voted for him or not, the City Government will render true public service without discrimination, particularly those Boronganons who are interested in eradicating poverty in their family through Dukwag Agrikultura (DA).
As to the financial assistance given to FRs, Mayor Agda pointed out that the financial assistance was both in recognition and expression of happiness of the CLGU for the FRs’ decision to have returned to the folds of law.
But to him, the Mayor stressed, the financial assistance is not yet the real reward because they have to invest in industry and perseverance with the ability to protect the main objective and integrity of DA. #
